Tech Talk Event 2017
Technology magazine from the Mercado Exchange division, made summit with technology executives from the main public and private institutions in the Embajador Hotel, Diplomatic Hall.
Entrepreneurs and professionals spoke about the growing disruptive influence of technology in the Dominican Republic of the future. In this industry, the changes are operating exponentially worldwide, creating a new way to grow and also undertake at the national level.
Guillermo Arduino, the international presenter of CNN en Español, with more than 20 years of expertise, was in charge of moderating the panelists and interviewees of this Tech Talk Event. The presenter of the space of Science and Technology “Clix” – first CNN program in Spanish to win an Emmy – shone for its eloquence, and marked a before and after in the moderation on Technology in the Dominican Republic.
The first panel consisted of the president of Altice Dominicana Martin Roos, the president of Indotel, José del Castillo Saviñon and the VP of Management and Development Solutions, Interconnection and International Services of Claro, Carlos Cueto. The panelists showed the will to build a more competitive sector that allows a broader Internet penetration in the country to create more opportunities for Dominicans. “We want all Dominicans to have access to technology,” said José del Castillo, president of INDOTEL, adding “our goal is to reach 70% Internet penetration.”
Then in an interview with the President of Citi Dominican Republic, Maximo Vidal, spoke of the strategy of Cybersecurity, increasingly necessary in companies, to offer a service of value and confidence for the client.
The Tech Talk presented the disruptive proposals of the Dominican Republic both in the world of artificial intelligence applied to business and 3D printing. The dynamic and personal testimony of a young Dominican, Erich Frankenberg, who is conquering the most successful companies of the world – evolving from Twitter to Amazon – enriched the perspective, and proposed an example of personal improvement and successful expatriation in Asia. From the presentation of Erich we will also retain the four components of technology: organization, optimization, automation and revolution.
Finally, in the last panel, it was about the interrelation between Finance and Security. Having representatives of financial institutions and leaders in the local online payment market and having the participation of Eugene Rault Grullón of Digital Popular Blue Services, Manuel Alejandro Grullón of GCS International and Maria Waleska Alvarez of Nap del Caribe; as well as by the Central Bank, Fabiola Herrera, it was possible to discuss transversally: the opportunities for financial inclusion through the new modes of online payments and via telephone, without forgetting the decisive component, Security.
With this Summit, Mercado Exchange once again offered an optimal platform for exchanging future-bearing ideas to enrich the content proposal of the Mercado Media Network. This first Tech Talk Event Summit, was the ideal setting for the release of the Magazine Technology November-December 2017.
